Eglwys St Mair, wedi ei hadnewyddu ym 1906, yn glyd ac yn gynnes a gwasanaeth boreol bob Sul. Hen sefydliad, tua 1254, yn perthyn i Abaty Enlli ac wedi bod yn gysylltiedig a theulu Trygarn. Coflechau i rai o'r teulu ym mur yr eglwys.

Trygarn, fferm chwarter milltir i gyfeiriad Botwnnog yn enwog yn ddiweddar fel y lle y ganed Moses Griffith (1747) yr artist fu'n gweithio i Thomas Pennant ac oedd yn gyfrifol am y darluniau yn y 'Tours of Wales'.

Yr ysgol wedi cau ar ôl brwydr ffyrnig dros ddwy flynedd rhwng y rhieni a'r Awdurdod Addysg (1969-1972) a'r adeilad yn ganolfan gymdeithasol erbyn hyn.

Hanes Cau Ysgol Bryncroes

Y ffynnon ynghanol y pentref yn un o'r ffynhonnau lle gorffwysai'r saint ar y bereindod i Enlli. Ffynnon Leuddad yng ngogledd orllewin y plwyf yn nhir Carrog yn enghraifft arall.

Ysgoldy Bach, heibio Bodgaeaf ar y ffordd i gyfeiriad y Rhiw. Bu Ieuan Llyn, Bardd Bryncroes (1769-1832), un o wyrion Siarl Marc yn cadw ysgol yma o tua 1812 i 1832.

Ymlaen ar y ffordd i fyny am y Rhiw mae Castell Caeron hen amddiffynfa Geltaidd, a'r ochor uchaf olion chwarel o Oes y Cerrig lle gwneid bwyeill cerrig. Darganfuwyd rhai o'r cerrig hyn mor bell a swydd Caint yn Ne Lloegr. ol cloddio pump o dyllau i godi'r cerrig, a gweddillion y gwastraff oedd ar ol yn dal yn gylchoedd o gwmpas y cloddfeydd.

Capel Ty Mawr i'r gorllewin o bentref Bryncroes - yr achos cyntaf i'r Methodistiaid Calfinaidd ei sefydlu yn Llŷn ar ol ymweliad Howell Harris ym 1747. Yr adeilad cyntaf gyferbyn a'r capel presennol - adeilad bychan to gwellt. Y capel fel y mae heddiw wedi ei godi tua 1840 a Siarl Marc (1720- 1795) yn un o'r 'cynghorwyr' amlycaf yn gofalu am y seiadau yn Llyn. Wyr i Siarl Marc oedd Ieuan Llyn , Bardd Bryncroes, yn fab i Mari Siarl, merch Siarl Marc. Ymfudodd hi a'r teulu i'r America a gadael y mab Evan (Ieuan Llyn) i gael ei fagu gyda'i daid, Siarl Marc yn Nhy Mawr.

St. Mary's Church, renovated in 1906, is warm and cozy with morning service every Sunday. An old settlement of around 1254, which was connected with the Abbey at Enlli and associated with the family from Trygarn. Family members have memorials inside the church.

Trygarn, a Farm about .5km towards Botwnnog famed more recently for the birthplace of Moses Griffith (1747) the artist who worked for Thomas Pennant and was responsible for the pictures in 'Tours of Wales'.

The school was closed after a fierce confrontation between parents and the local education authority (1969-72), and the building is now used as a community center.

Closing Bryncroes School History

The well at the center of the village is one that the saints on route to enlli rested at. Another example is Ffynnon Leuddad in the north eastern end of the parish on the land of Carrog farm.

The small school house past Bodgaeaf on the road to Rhiw. This is where Ieuan Llyn, The Bard of Bryncroes (1769-1832), one of Siarl Marc's descendants kept an early school from 1812-1832.

continuing along the road towards rhiw a small boss shows the location of Castell Caeron, an old Celtic fortification. This is very near the site of the stone age axe head 'factory' on rhiw. Some of the axe heads from this rock have been found as far afield as the southern counties of England. Here there are at least five partially back filled pits surrounded by 'waste' spoil that can clearly be seen around them.

Ty Mawr Chapel to the east of Bryncroes- the first chapel to be established in Llyn by the Calvinist Methodists after the visiting of Llyn by Howell Harris in 1747. The original chapel- a small thatched building, was situated across the road from the present chapel. The Chapel as it is today was built around 1840. Siarl Marc (1720-1795) was one of the most visible 'councilors' responsible for the fellowship meetings in Llyn. Ieuan Llyn the Bard was the grandchild of Siarl Marc, he was left in his Grandfathers care when his mother Mari Siarl left with the family for America. He was bought up by his grandfather in Ty Mawr.
