Van Goch strikes Aberdaron Posted Thursday, April 19, 2001 by penllyn
In a disgracefull exhibition of wanton vandalism a slate memorial plaque celebrating the queens Coronation was defaced with paint. The plaque that had been daubed late last year by an impressionist had only just been cleaned at the start of this week, but this popular canvas had been re visited with wild manic brushstrokes clearly visible by Good Friday Morning. Police are looking for a one eared dutchman.

Daeth dros hanner cant o drigolion ardal Botwnnog at ei gilydd yn Festri Rhydbach nos Wener diwethaf, Ebrill 6 i drafod dyfodol Eglwys Llandygwnning. Mae sefyllfar eglwys wedi peri cryn bryder i drigolion yr ardal ers ir Eglwys yng Nghymru benderfynu ei gwerthu yn gynharach eleni. Yn l Geraint Hughes, Cadeirydd y Cyngor Cymuned, yr oedd nifer o bob1 wedi datgan wrth aelodaur cyngor eu pryder ynglyn 'r defnydd y gallai prynwr preifat ei wneud or adeilad. Eglwys Llandygwnning Posted Saturday, April 14, 2001 by newsroom
A Church with a very rich historical background and unique
architecture is being sold by the church in Wales. Llandygwning
church near botwnnog is a vital part of the rich religeous
heritage of Llyn. (search penllyn.com / history) Local residents
are praying that a satisfactory future for the building can be
found, To this end Cllr, Evie Griffith of Botwnnog is holding
meetings this week. About 100 local residents showed up recently
to voice their opinions. Lets hope this landmark does not go the
same way as - "the quietest place in Llyn".

Nefyn Landslide Posted Thursday, April 12, 2001 by waen
Gwynedd Council's executive committee has agreed to a 250,000
scheme. The scheme was proposed by Cllr Tomos Evans and welcomed
by local representative Cllr John Griffith. "The cost of the work
will be in the region of 250k for this particular phase." said
Bob Diamond the Council Surveyor. "work should start on April 23."

An application for 2million for Nefyn has been made to the
National Assembly in January, and another 2million to cover costs
of work at Rhiw together with other sums for a number of other
schemes. The council is still waiting for a reply.

The British Geological Survey have been continuing with their
surveys in Nefyn Bay and Porthdinllaen. They cannot complete them,
however, as they cannot enter agricultural land because of the
foot and mouth outbreak.

Bryn Beryl Posted Saturday, April 7, 2001 by waen
Bryn Beryl is the only 'Hospital' we have in the area, and it's
maternity unit closed on April 1 (April fool's day), but this was
no april fool! The unit is run by general Practitioners but since
the desision of General Practitioners in Nefyn and Pwllheli was
not to use it except for aftercare, only Rhydbach in Botwnnog
offered expectant mothers the opportunity to go there. The unit
will remain closed until North West Wales NHS Trust deliver a
review expected August. Expectant mothers now have the choice of
a home birth, a birth at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor or presumably
in the ambulance on route. Comments may be sent to- Dr Sandy
Payne North Wales Health Trust, Preswylfa, Ffordd Hendy, Yr
Wyddgrug, CH7 1PZ.

Ysbyty Bryn Beryl Posted Saturday, April 7, 2001 by penllyn
Fydd yr Uned Famolaeth yn ailagor?
Mae penderfyniad Awdurdod Iechyd Gogledd Cymru i gau Uned Famolaeth, Bryn Beryl yn ddirybudd, tra maen nhwn cynnal adolygiad ar ei dyfodol, wedi cythruddo bydwragedd a rhieni fel ei gilydd.
Yn l John Roberts or Awdurdod Iechyd, Bydd yr adolygiad yn digwydd rhwng hyn a Mis Awst. Os fydd yr Awdurdod yn penderfynu gwneud newid sylweddol, yna bydd yn rhaid cael ymgynghoriad cyhoeddus, meddai. Mae'r defnydd or uned ar gyfer genedigaethau wedi gostwng yn sylweddol ers i feddygon Nefyn a Phwllheli benderfynu peidio defnyddior ddarpariaeth. Roedd meddygon Rhydbach, Botwnnog yn da1 iw defnyddio ar gyfer genedigaethau, ac roedd y tri practis yn
defnyddior gwasanaeth l-ofal. Mae'r bydwragedd lleol yn teimlo y byddair Awdurdod yn cymryd cam yn l trwy gaur uned. Y duedd y dyddiau yma yw rhoir dewis i ferched lle y maen nhwn dymuno geni eu plant, Petair Awdurdod isio bod yn flaengar, mi fyddan nhwn datblygur uned yn lle ei chau.
Ymhlith y rhieni cyntaf iw gael heffeithio gan Y penderfyniad i gaur uned yw Sera ac Aled Rees Jones o Nefyn. Ganwyd efeilliaid, Rhydian a Joseff, i Sera yr wythnos ddiwethaf yn Ysbyty Gwynedd. Bun rhaid iddi ddod adref or ysbyty ar l diwrnod. Mae'r bydwragedd wedi bod yn arbennig o dda, meddai Sera, ond roeddwn i wedi gobeithio, yn enwedig wrth mai dymar babis cyntaf, cael tridiau yn Bryn Beryl i gael fy nghefn ataf. Mi rydan nin siomedig iawn.
Dywed Dafydd Wigley ei fod wedi cael sicrwydd dro yn l y byddair Awdurdod yn gwarantur gofal l-eni. Maen gyfangwbl annerbyniol nad ydir gwasanaeth yma ar gael ar hyn o bryd, meddai. Rydw i wedi sgrifennu at Gadeirydd yr Awdurdod, ac yn disgwyl ateb. Gall unrhyw un syn dymuno gwneud sylwadau gysylltu ar saw1 syn gyfrifol am yr adolygiad, sef-
