Sloganau yn Nefyn / Slogans Posted Wednesday, April 24, 2002 by penllyn
Nos Sul Ebrill 21 peintiwyd sloganau gwrth-saesnig yn Nefyn -'English Out', 'English Go Home', 'Cymry i'r Cymru', 'English Scum', 'I'r Gad', 'MG'. Dros y misoedd diwethaf mae prisiau tai yn Nefyn wedi codi ymhell o gyraedd y trigolion lleol, ond mae'r tai sydd yn dwad ar y farchnad yn cael eu gwerthu yn sydun, yn amlwg felly mae'r gymdeithas yn Nefyn yn newid yn ddydiol. Mae yna deimlad cryf o anfodlonrwydd ymysg y Cymry, sydd yn cael eu prisio allan o'r farchnad dai ac sydd yn gweld dyfodol eu diwylliant au bodolaeth fel Cymru Cymraeg yn eu cymunedau o dan fygythiad. Mae yna ddiffyg atebion politicaedd sydd yn creu teimlad o rwystredigaeth ymysg yr ifanc. Fe gafwyd rhybudd rai misoedd yn ol gan Simon Brooks o Cymuned ei fod yn ofni y byddai protestio pe na bai yna ymateb gwleidyddol buan. Nid oes a wnelo Cymuned ddim a'r paentio. Mae ofnau ymysg rhai o drigolion Nefyn y bydd y sloganau yn niweidiol i'r diwidiant twristiaeth. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It seems as though some individuals are so frustrated at the lack of political action regarding the plight of Welsh speaking communities that they are taking to painting slogans. Many were found in Nefyn on Monday morning the 22nd. The walls of the old post and towards Y Fron were taken as highly visible places to paint. It would appear that the community is polarized with some people saying that the politicians need to do something to alleviate the housing problems. Others including most traders feel that the painting was outrageous and that it would harm the tourist industry. This latest round of painting could be the start of other such acts and the 'canvases' chosen echo a tradition of slogan painting in Nefyn that goes back 30 years. A spokesman for Cymuned the pressure group who had foreseen this kind of action taking place said-" Cymuned was not responsible for this action, we have been warning the assembly that this kind of thing is bound to happen as people become frustrated by political inaction"
