 Rip-Off Britain.........

Apple , Mac The Office of Fair Trading is investigating claims that Apple is ripping off its UK customers.

The investigation follows a complaint that UK customers were having to shell out more for the reassuringly expensive online music service than our European neighbours.

According to the Consumers' Association, Apple's iTunes online store sells a digital song for €0.99 (67p) in France and Germany, but 79p in the UK. While the content is identical in each country and is even served from the same site, people can only buy songs in the online store for the country they are in.

 Airport Express, AirTunes, i-pods & UK i-store & napster!.

Airport Expressipod
Apple have announced a nifty little device called Airport Express — a portable 802.11g base station with an audio port for wirelessly sharing music around your home or office.

You connect your stereo to the optical audio output port, plug the device into a power point and, using AirTunes (part of the newly released iTunes 4.6), play music on your Mac through your stereo.

Being wireless of course, your Mac doesn’t have to be in the same room as your stereo, just within range of the device. The unit also has a USB port for wireless print sharing and a single 10/100 ethernet port to extend your network.

Apple , MacAnonymous writes "OpenOffice.org and the OpenOffice.org Mac OS X/Darwin porting team announces the release of OpenOffice.org 1.0 X11 for Mac OS X and Darwin (Final Beta). While this release is not final and is intended to solicit public feedback, bug reports, and to attract developers to the project, it is feature-complete for Apple's first X11 (Final) release. The main focus will be on fixing bugs in the Final Beta to allow for a full Final release in Spring 2003.

Software to create a boot cd for OSX.xx

Apple , MacBootCD is a Cocoa app that creates a disk image that can be used to burn a Mac OS X boot CD with a working Finder and Dock on it. This utility is unfinished and still has some flaws, but works. The current version works much better than previous versions, and includes the ability to run Drive10 and other utilities, although Norton does not yet work from the CD.

 Opera 6.0 for MacOS, English

Apple , MacAnonymous writes "Opera 6.0 for MacOS, nice and clean and almost as fast as Safari! OsX 10.1xx users should try it out if they still have IE 5.1 or 5.2.

Download- Opera 6.0

Update: Opera Software expressed significant doubts it would continue producing a browser for the Macintosh operating system, illustrating a growing problem for third-party Mac developers as Apple Computer steps up its own application development efforts.
Opera, based in Oslo, Norway, on Tuesday released Opera 7, its first final version of a newly rewritten browser. As usual, the company released a browser for Windows before making available versions for other operating systems.
But this time, the company did not set a date for a Macintosh release, and instead questioned whether one would be forthcoming at all.
The reason? Apple's own launch of its Safari browser at Macworld in San Francisco earlier this month. Safari, now out in a test or "beta" version, is based on the open-source browser project KHTML. KHTML is part of the K Desktop Environment, an open-source graphical interface for Unix workstations.
